I-81 Towing and Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) Roles and Responsibilities

This area includes all the roles and responsibilities that have been identified for the I-81 Towing and Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) project.

Stakeholders

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide incident information to dispatched public safety personnel via on-board vehicle systems.
• Provide tactical decision support, resource coordination, and communications integration among public safety agencies for Incident Commands that are established by first responders to support local management of an incident.



• VDOT Bristol District Operations

Roles and Responsibilities

• Communicate commercial vehicle incident information with heavy vehicle towing companies to execute vehicle removal from travel lanes.
• Coordinate incident response with all appropriate cooperating agencies.
• Formulate an incident response that takes into account the incident potential, incident impacts, and/or resources required for incident management including proposing and facilitating the dispatch of emergency response and service vehicles.
• Provide tactical decision support, resource coordination, and communications integration among public safety agencies for Incident Commands that are established by first responders to support local management of an incident.
• Support coordinated response to incidents.



• Heavy Duty Recovery Companies

Roles and Responsibilities

• Receive, respond and coordinate heavy vehicle towing services within 90 minutes of commercial vehicle incident.
