Definition:
This element is represented by systems that provide climate information and warnings of hazardous weather including thunderstorms, flooding, tornadoes, and winter weather events. It provides atmospheric weather observations and forecasts that are collected and derived by the National Weather Service. Weather data from bridge operations is included in this category such as NOAA. This element also represents providers of value-added sector specific meteorological services. These providers utilize National Weather Service data and data provided by the traffic management or maintenance organizations to provide surface transportation related weather observations and forecasts including pavement temperature and conditions.
