Regional Traffic Management

Definition:

This market package provides for the planned sharing of traffic information among the VDOT NOVA STSS and NOVA Local Signal Centers to support a regional control strategy. This market package advances the Surface Street Control and Freeway Control Market Packages by adding the communications links and integrated control strategies that enable integrated interjurisdictional traffic information sharing. If at some point in the future there is a desire to share control, then the nature of optimization and extent of information and potential control sharing will be determined through working arrangements between VDOT and the other jurisdictions.
