Roles and Responsibilities:

    Emergency Management
    • Develop, propose and implement emergency control strategies during major emergencies (all signals on blink, contraflow etc)
    • Supports the coordination of ecavuation plans among federal, state and local transportation, emergency and law enforcement agencies that may be involved in a large scale evacuation

    Incident Management
    • Determine the expected traffic flow impact of each incident
    • Propose and facilitate the appropriate control of traffic signals and other devices to reduce the traffic flow impact of an incident
    • Provide status of all resources needed for incident resolution to those agencies responding to the incident

    Surface Street Signal Management
    • Monitor maintenance, construction, and winter road conditions along key arterials
    • Receive signal priority and preemption requests where available
    • Maintain field equipment including traffic signals, and vehicle detection equipment
    • Coordinate with other regional agencies during emergencies and evacuation for emergency traffic control
    • Manage regional traffic control efforts and assist in coordinating traffic across boundaries
