Video Clearinghouses

Definition:

This stakeholder represents entities acting as an agent for VDOT for video distribution. VDOT policy allows up to three private contractors to serve as video clearinghouses.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Freeway and Corridor Management
• Provide value-added traffic image data from VDOT CCTV cameras in an accessible format (on a website, WAP cellphones, PDAs)
• Share traffic image data with non-VDOT agencies including law enforcement and emergency management

Incident Management
• Provide traffic images to verifiy and monitor incidents to law enforcement, and traffic management agencies
