Definition:The Sedgwick County Surface Street Control service provides the central control and monitoring equipment, communication links, and the signal control equipment that support local surface street control and/or arterial traffic management for Sedgwick County, however, the City of Wichita will ultimately control the traffic signals through their planned traffic operations center. A range of traffic signal control systems are represented by this service ranging from fixed-schedule control systems to fully traffic responsive systems that dynamically adjust control plans and strategies based on current traffic conditions and priority requests.
