KHP-Turnpike

Definition:

The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) Turnpike dispatchers provide dispatching services for the Kansas Highway Patrol for the turnpike.

Roles and Responsibilities:

    Emergency Management for Wichita Area
    • KHP-Turnpike is responsible for addressing incidents, disasters, security threats, or any event that will cause a disruption to traffic flow on the turnpike and requires their assistance.
    • KHP-Turnpike is responsible for providing public safety during disasters (manmade or natural diasters).

    Incident Management for Wichita Area
    • KHP-Turnpike is responsible for assisting in restoring traffic back to its pre-incident condition.
    • KHP-Turnpike is reponsible for addressing incidents, disasters, security threats, or any event that will cause a disruption to traffic flow on the turnpike and requires their assistance.
    • KHP-Turnpike is responsible for providing incident information to the traffic management and public safety agencies in the Wichita Area detected by patrol vehicles or motorist call-ins.
    • KHP-Turnpike is responsible for sharing incident related information with KDOT, Sedgwick County, and the City of Wichita in coordination activities.
