Emissions Management Center --> Enforcement Center:
access violation notification

Definitions

access violation notification (Information Flow): Notification that an individual vehicle or user has committed an access violation. The flow identifies the nature of the violation and the time and location where the violation was recorded.

Emissions Management Center (Source Physical Object): The 'Emissions Management Center' provides the capabilities for air quality managers to monitor and manage air quality. These capabilities include collecting emissions data from distributed emissions sensors (included in ITS Roadway Equipment) and directly from connected vehicles. The sensors monitor general air quality and also monitor the emissions of individual vehicles on the roadway. The measures are collected, processed, and used to support environmental monitoring applications.

Enforcement Center (Destination Physical Object): The 'Enforcement Center' represents the systems that receive reports of violations detected by various ITS facilities including individual vehicle emissions, lane violations, toll violations, CVO violations, etc.

Communication Solutions

  • (None-Data) - Secure Internet (ITS) (32)
Solutions are sorted in ascending Gap Severity order. The Gap Severity is the parenthetical number at the end of the solution.

Selected Solution

(None-Data) - Secure Internet (ITS)

Solution Description

This solution is used within Australia, the E.U. and the U.S.. It combines standards associated with (None-Data) with those for I-I: Secure Internet (ITS). The (None-Data) standards include an unspecified set of standards at the upper layers. The I-I: Secure Internet (ITS) standards include lower-layer standards that support secure communications between ITS equipment using X.509 or IEEE 1609.2 security certificates.

Interoperability Description
Regional Interoperability throughout the geopolitical region is highly desirable, but if implemented differently in different transportation management jurisdictions, significant benefits will still accrue in each jurisdiction. Regardless, this Information Flow Triple should be implemented consistently within a transportation jurisdiction (i.e., the scope of a regional architecture).

Security

Information Flow Security
  Confidentiality Integrity Availability
Rating Moderate High Moderate
Basis May contain PII of a black listed user account, and/or vehicle identification. Given the potential for PII to be involved, this needs to be correct and unalterable to avoid confusion or malfeasance. Availability is at least MODERATE since the information has potential legal (or at least traffic law) implications that would otherwise involve a far less prompt and possibly manpower intensive interaction.
