VDOT Regional TOCs/ATMS

Status: Existing

Description: The VDOT Regional TOCs/ATMS in the Central, Northern, Northwestern, Eastern regions, and Statewide operate on the same ATMS which acts as the nerve center of an integrated system of advanced technologies including computer software, traffic cameras, ramp meters. From each of the VDOT Regional TOCs/ATMS, VDOT monitors and manages traffic, recognizes and responds to incidents, and instantly delivers information to motorists. All of the VDOT Regional TOCs/ATMS are responsible for monitoring and managing traffic in their assigned regional operations area. which includes their respective district construction areas. Any of the VDOT Regional TOCs/ATMS can take over the operations in the Southwestern Region, or any other region, in case of a major disaster via the common ATMS platform from which they operate.
