Welcome to the Commonwealth of Virginia's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Architecture web site for the Virginia Northern Region's ITS Architecture. This site will provide you with information on all aspects of transportation-related information exchanges for the Virginia northern region level. At the northern regional level, it is important that each interface with other regions and the statewide elements are standardized. The architecture is consistent in how it shows the detailed exchange of information between the northern regional systems (e.g., Traffic Operations Centers) and other regional systems. This architecture also defines the details for the northern region ITS including the northern region-to-statewide element interactions.
