Definition:

The KDOT TOC Information Server Broadcast Traveler Information service collects traffic conditions, advisories, general public transportation, incident information, roadway maintenance and construction information, air quality and weather information, and broadly disseminates this information through existing infrastructures and low cost user equipment (e.g., FM subcarrier, cellular data broadcast). The information may be provided directly to travelers or provided to merchants and other traveler service providers so that they can better inform their customers of travel conditions. Different from the Traffic Information Dissemination service, which provides localized HAR and DMS information capabilities, the KDOT TOC Information Server Broadcast Traveler Information service provides a wide area digital broadcast service. Successful deployment of this service relies on availability of real-time traveler information from roadway instrumentation or other sources.
