ST06: HOV/HOT Lane Management (FDOT District 7)

Service Graphic

Definition:

The HOV/HOT Lane Management service package for FDOT District 7 manages high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) and high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes by coordinating freeway ramp meters and connector signals with HOV lane usage signals. Preferential treatment is given to HOV lanes using special bypasses, reserved lanes, and exclusive rights-of-way that may vary by time of day. Vehicle occupancy can be detected to verify HOV compliance and to notify enforcement agencies of violations. For HOT lane configurations, tolls are collected for vehicles that do not meet the high-occupancy criteria for the lane.
