RM3P Data Exchange Platform
Project Description: The Regional Multimodal Mobility Program (RM3P) Data Exchange Platform (DEP) is a Data–as–a–Service arrangement that data providers will furnish real–time parking space availability data for selected commuter parking lots. VDOT will retain non–exclusive rights to the data in perpetuity. This will be a cooperative contract for partner agencies' use. This real–time data will be ingested to the RM3P Data–Exchange Platform (DEP).
In addition, the project will gather static parking information and historical parking availability data from parking lots at transfer points across the region and make them available to DEP. Predicted parking availability data will be developed by the AI–DSS project and also make available to the DEP.
With all the data about commuter parking lots available from the DEP, this project will validate the data and conduct outreach to make known to trip information providers and trip planning tool developers about this set of parking data so that commuters can receive the information from both agency (e.g. 511, DMS sign) and third party providers.
The parking information will help commuters plan trips with transfers from personal vehicles to transit or shared–use vehicles and choose among multiple options to park and transfer.
The goals are to reduce single–occupancy vehicle (SOV) trips, facilitate multi–modal trips, and maximize value of existing investments in commuter lots.
