Stakeholder input and involvement is essential to the success of this project to ensure that existing systems and future needs are identified. The primary purpose of this project is to provide an opportunity for agencies to plan, develop and deploy ITS in a coordinated consistent manner.   Public agencies and interested private entities and special interest groups are encouraged to participate in the planning process. Benefits of a collaborative approach to ITS include:

• Optimal use of funding
• Eliminate duplication of efforts
• Promote coordination with ITS in adjacent regions within northern California and beyond
