Traveler Information for Wichita Area

The stakeholders in this regional area interface with each other to provide traveler information for the Wichita Area.

511 Stakeholder Group
  • 511 Stakeholder Group is responsible for the Kansas 511 system. A variety of interactive devices may be used by the traveler to access information (traffic congestion, road weather conditions, and multi-modal) prior to a trip or en route including phone via a 511-like portal, kiosk, Personal Digital Assistant, personal computer, and a variety of in-vehicle devices.
  • 511 Stakeholder Group is responsible for posting natural and man-made disaster information on the Kansas 511 system. 511 Stakeholder Group is responsible for posting wide area alerts and amber alert information on the Kansas 511 system.
KDOT
  • KDOT is responsible for providing information on the KDOT TOC Information System. The information provided will be traffic congestion levels, road weather conditions, maintenance and construction projects that may impact motorist commute times.
  • KDOT is responsible for posting natural and man-made disaster information on the KDOT TOC Information System. KDOT is responsible for posting wide area alerts and amber alert information on the KDOT TOC Information System.
Local Media
  • Local media is responsible for disseminating traffic, emergency, and disaster related information to the public to aid in their decision making process for alternate routes and multimodal choices.
  • Local media is responsible for interfacing with traffic management, transit management, maintenance and construction management, emergency management, and information service providers in the Wichita Area.
Wichita Transit
  • In the future Wichita Transit will be responsible for provided transit related information to the 511 stakeholder group to allow the public to have access to multi-modal information.
  • Wichita Transit is responsible for allowing transit users to obtain transit related information at transit stops and on-board transit vehicles. The information services include transit stop annunciation, imminent arrival signs, and real-time transit schedule displays that are of general interest to transit users.
