Sedgwick County EMS

Definition:

Sedgwick County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responds to calls for emergency medical assistance in Wichita and the communities of Sedgwick County. EMS provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) services. EMS receives First Responder basic life support (BLS) emergency response support from volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in Derby, EMS Reserves and EMTs on the Wichita and Sedgwick County Fire Departments.

• Sedgwick County EMS is responsible for establishing a link with healthcare facilities to ensure they would be able to treat the injuries of patients they are transporting.
• Sedgwick County EMS is responsible for responding to situations that require their assistance in transporting injured victims of incidents or disasters.
