Comparison of CVRIA and ISO/CEN ITS Station Architecture

This website provides a detailed description of the CVRIA, which is a USDOT effort to develop an architecture for the connected vehicle environment. CVRIA is based around four viewpoints– enterprise, functional, physical and communications.

Connected vehicle efforts internationally have focused on the concept of an ITS Station Architecture which was developed by CEN/ISO/ETSI and is defined in a number of standards relating to the architecture itself, and to the functionality and communications that support the architecture.

Harmonization Task Group 6, a joint US and international effort, has been examining ways to harmonize the connected vehicle activities worldwide. In reviewing the two architecture efforts HTG–6 has created a Primer that describes the scope of each and considers the similarities and differences between the two efforts.
