2.8.3.4: Determine Freight Equipment Status
This process shall be responsible for determining the status and/or location of an intermodal container or of the cargo within the container. The process shall monitor parameters of the container or cargo (e.g. temperature vibration and humidity). The process shall monitor the status of the container seal. The process shall accept an input from separately monitored cargo within the container. The process shall allow output status only to a process in the Commercial Vehicle Subsystem. In this case an independent location capability is not required. The process shall allow operation in a standalone mode where status and location are transmitted directly to the Distribution and Logistics Management Provider. The process shall provide the ability to output the individual parameters or to output a general status indication such as 'green'/'red'. The process shall have the ability to test its monitoring capability and provide an output on the status of its monitoring function.
