1.2.7.15: Process Intersection Safety Data

This process shall receive intersection infringement warnings from connected vehicles along with intersection geometry data, pedestrian safety data, highway rail intersections (HRI), and other application inputs in order to provide safety warnings to other approaching vehicles, pedestrians, and other road users served by the Manage Traffic function. The process shall use the data available from connected vehicle data to determine any vehicle position conflict(s) that will arise if no action is taken. This process shall output data giving the direction from which the potential collision hazard will arise to the vehicle(s) that is(are) likely to receive the impact. This process shall, where possible, provide information to the intersection controller and other nearby traffic control devices about the location of pedestrians and vehicles to avoid or minimize a crash. This process supplies approaching vehicles with data about the geometry of the intersection. This process uses data from the signal control function and broadcasts the Signal Phase and Timing (SPaT) data including the current phase, time left in the current phase, what the next phase will be and the timing for the next phase, and optionally the timing for the phase after that (Next Next Phase, e.g. when the red after the yellow will be).
