Object

An Object is an abstract model of something in the system that has behaviors and states and is distinct from any other object. An object is characterized by whatever attributes distinguish it from other objects and by encapsulation, abstraction, and behavior. An example of an Enterprise Object is an abstract model of an organization. Some attributes of this object include resources, policies etc. Objects defined in their primary Viewpoint often have corresponding objects in other Viewpoints.


Objectives

In long range transportation plans, specific, measurable statements related to the attainment of goals.


On-Board Equipment (OBE)

Computer modules, display and a DSRC radio, that is installed and embedded into vehicles which provide an interface to vehicular sensors, as well as a wireless communication interface to the roadside and back office environment.


On-Board Unit

A vehicle mounted device used to transmit and receive a variety of message traffic to and from other connected devices (other OBUs and RSUs). Among the message types and applications supported by this device are vehicle safety messages used to exchange information on each vehicle's dynamic movements for coordination and safety.


Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model

An industry standard communications protocol model.


Operators

These are the day-to-day users of the System that monitor the health of the system components, adjust parameters to improve performance, and collect and report statistics of the overall system.


Organization

A company, corporation, firm, enterprise, authority or institution, or part or combination thereof, whether incorporated or not, public or private, that has its own functions and administration.


Ownership

Having administrative and fiscal responsibility for the owned element and the right to exclusively control and use it for one's own purposes. It is the state or fact of having exclusive possession or control of some object, facility, intellectual property or some other kind of property.
