Commercial Vehicle Operations for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area includes the commercial vehicle operaitons in the Triangle Region ITS Architecture, which are focused on the region's ability to respond to Hazardous Materials incidents.
Complete Regional Fiber Network – NCDOT Roles and ResponsibilitiesThis area includes the roles and responsibilities that have been identified for the continued deployment of fiber optic communications infrastructure in the Triangle region.
Electronic Toll Collection for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area includes the roles and responsibilities pertaining to electronic tolling and other road use charging on the NC Turnpike facilities.
Emergency Management for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area includes roles and responsibilities of the first responders and other public agencies in the region pertaining to emergency management or public safety services.
Freeway Management for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area covers freeway monitoring and control that is performed by NCDOT. Current traffic information and planned closures are provided to other public and private stakeholders in the region.
Implement AVL technology for Transit Roles and ResponsibilitiesThis area includes all the roles and responsibilities that have been identified for the implementation of Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) technology for transit agencies in the Triangle.
Incident Management for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis service area detects, responds to, and recovers from incidents on or affecting the surface transportation network in the Triangle region. It includes participation of public safety and transportation agencies in the region.
Maintenance and Construction for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area includes roles and responsibilities for maintenance and construction operations in the region. NCDOT is the primary stakeholder for this area but other jurisdictions have public works departments that contribute to the management of workzones and maintenance operations in the region.
Parking Management for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area includes roles and responsibilities for parking management in the region, including facility management as well as integrated electronic payment services.
Support Services for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureIn the Triangle region a number of support type service packages are needed in order for ITS to work as well as expected. It used to be much simpler when the region's traffic departments just bought hardware and software and their most computer literate team members put them together. Now everything is connected over the internet and needs special protections and special Information Technology (IT) skills to keep everything running safely and securely.
Surface Street Management for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area covers surface street and arterial monitoring and control that is performed by NCDOT, county, and local jurisdictions in the Triangle region.
Transit Services for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area covers the roles and responsibilities for transit services in the Triangle region, including fixed route, paratransit, bus rapid transit, and light rail services in the region.
Traveler Information for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area includes the roles and responsibilities pertaining to the collection and distribution of traveler information systems in the Triangle region, including systems managed by public sector agencies like NCDOT and GoTriangle as well as new private sector firms specializing in new mobility options like Uber, Lyft, Bird, Lime, etc.
TRI – Regional SmartCardThis operational concept describes the roles and responsibilities for the implementation of a regional smart card. The services scope addressed by this operational concept includes the use and acceptance of a regional smart card for electronic fare payment, collection, and reconciliation.
Vehicle Safety for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area includes roles and responsibilities of agencies and stakeholders in the Triangle region that are focused on improving vehicle safety, including the use of new connected and automated vehicle technology.
Weather for Triangle Regional ITS ArchitectureThis area includes roles and responsibilites for the collection and dissemination of weather information and environmental sensor station data.
